As much as we love the sun and sand, there is fun in the snow to be had when we visit mountains in winter. Specifically ski resorts! From the Northeast to the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest, resorts abound for our skiing pleasure.
A few of our favorites include:
• Stowe Mountain - Stowe Mountain Resort is just 7½ miles from Trapp Family Lodge previously featured on our site. This resort has everything for everyone including downhill skiing, snowboarding, and more, the resort is also home to Vermont’s highest peak, Mount Mansfield at 4,396 feet.
• Park City Mountain - Park City resort is the biggest resort in the United States and was the venue for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. With 7,300 acres, over 330 trails, 43 lifts, 6 terrain parks, and ski-in-ski-out access to historic Main Street.
• Crystal Mountain Resort - Washington’s sole gondola and lone alpine village—it’s often referred to as the state’s only real ski resort. It includes varied terrain over 10 lifts, many mid-mountain lodges, some night skiing, and viewpoints where Rainier, just to the West, looks massive.
