Fire Up This Nashville Style Shredded Hot Chicken

Nashville Style Shredded Hot Chicken

My all-time favorite city to visit in the U.S: Music City. A trip to Nashville is not complete without trying some of their famous hot chicken (wearing cowgirl boots of course). Although true Nashville hot chicken is breaded and fried, we found this awesome, easy recipe. It brings all of the flavor of Nashville’s hot chicken, combines it with the ease of a slow cooker, and results in a versatile shredded chicken dish. Great in a sandwich, on nachos, or just on its own, your girlfriends will love these Nashville flavors--no matter what city you’re in.

Ingredients for six servings | Multiply by degree of hunger and divide by number of girlfriends!

2 pounds chicken thighs

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons cayenne pepper

1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon chili powder

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1 cup chicken broth

Directions

Step 1

Add all of the ingredients to a slow cooker. Cook until chicken is done, on high for 1 1/2 - 2 hours, or low for 3 - 3 1/2 hours.

Step 2

Remove chicken from slow cooker

Step 3

Place chicken on a cutting board and use forks to shred. Or, place chicken in a stand mixer bowl and shred using the fitted paddle attachment.

Step 4

Serve warm on a bun with coleslaw and dill pickle chips.
